emma | senior session | dekalb, illinois

To start off our weekly “session posts”, I have selected the lovely Emma.  Like I said back in her teaser, she is a young photographer–obviously graduating from high school this year.  She is very talented–so talented, in fact, that we might have her help us out occasionally : )  Sometimes we need a third shooter or an assistant.  We look forward to having her help us out!

I found it quite hard to narrow her session post down to a reasonable number of images.  We just had so much fun.  She knew exactly how to “pose” and completely understood our crazy shooting ideas/locations.  It was wonderful.

Of course it was hard for me to pick a favorite, but I do believe this is the one.  I love so many, but this one… : )  Perfection to me.

That being said, I have a new idea/suggestion… well, more of a demand, really.  With all of these daily posts, I would love to hear your favorite/s from each one.  I am extremely interested in the style of photos that really stand out to our followers.  So…. if you could quickly take a second and leave a comment with your favorite photo each time I do a photo post… that would be just fantastic!

Emma and I talked a little beforehand about different ideas we might want to try, and I brought up balloons.  We had never used balloons up until then–so here are our first shots with the new “prop” idea…

Let me tell you, those things got twisted, tangled…. one popped, one blew away… strings fell off.  Needless to say, balloons are something we won’t be using too often : )

So all of those photos, aside from the first (my favorite), were taken from the first day of shooting.  We did two days; one day of fields, barns, rural stuff and one day of downtown, buildings, etc. Sometimes  we are able to hit all of these locations in one day… but we wanted “golden hour”, plus she had school and it was getting dark quickly.  So, we decided to go for the two day shoot.  I’m glad we did.  We got such a great variety.  The next set is from the second day:

I do believe that was the longest post in the history of our blog.  I hope you enjoyed it : )  Now it’s time for me to get back to editing and working on our upcoming events.  January is a super busy month… and here we thought it was going to slow down after December!  I’m looking forward to hearing everyone’s favorite/s  ; )  ; )

Leslie Russell - Beautiful shots...I love the ones of her standing by the trees...but she is a gorgeous girl! Don't think she could take a bad picture!

Barbara Cowan Kolb - It's tough to be objective, because I'm Emma's mom. You have some great work here. I am partial to 24 and 30... because to me, those are Emma. Thanks!!!

Jessica Sena - the one in the green doorway where she is touching the frame and the two where she is sitting and they are from the waist up and you see her black ring. (black dress, purple belt) i just keep looking at them. she should model. she is so natural. she needs to come to your budiour session.

Jessica Sena - oh my gracious. they are all sooo good. she is just plain gorgeous. i like the one in the door way, the last b/w glitter one, the purple bench. they are all so good though, to pick a favortie is hard. you guys are so good, its ridiculous. i love your style.

Amber Zrust - You guys always amaze me... you know im like your biggest fan... but no joke I think these are the best I have ever seen you post... every one of them... im so jealous - i wish I could retake my senior photos :(

Emma - ahhhhhhh ILOVEILOVEILOVEILOVE. i can't pick a favorite. i think my favorite is one you didn't post actually. i'm in a white shirt looking out of the frame, when we were in the trees. and from the above i can't pick. it's so strange to see photos of myself, and saying a lot that i don't mind. thanks again guys :)

Danielle Emerson - I really like the one where she is in the dress standing in the door way. That one really stands out to me.

Kristy - Only because you demanded a favorite can I begin to narrow it down. Otherwise, I would have to say "all of the above." I think my favorite is the panned out one with the line of trees [maybe only for the beautiful shot of the trees]. My second favorite is the purple bench one. Another favorite is the second balloon shot. I also like the glitter ones, though I don't think I'd like it if it were only the concept of a glitter-blowing photograph. Honestly, I could fight for all of them...she's super cute.

Craig - These Photos are amazing, she is beautiful and looks like she did not even know the camera was there. My favorite is the one where she is blowing the blue glitter off her hands, very artistic, I love it!

Jody - I like the 6th one. Something about the golden hour, I guess. I hope Tom and I have some like that our engagement session. (If we ever have one...I procrastinate...) The photos are all great though.

Sarah - wow. she is gorgeous! i absolutely love these!! I have to agree with you and say the first is my favorite. it is so natural. my next favorite is the first one when she is sitting by the gumball machines. great job!!

Brook - wow. amazing shots!

nikki - oh... and I NEED to know where that dress with the purple belt is from. immediately.

nikki - Are you kidding me? What a difficult request - I simply cannot pick just one but here is the list: - this first one, obviously. - the first blowing one (after the mustaches). - the sitting on top of the washing machines one. - and the light in the 6th picture is GORGEOUS. ... phew. I love it.

Jordan Leckey - Love the first one too. Also really love the one where she is sitting on the washers. These are absolutely beautiful!
