We mentioned awhile back that the lovely Kat over at Rock ‘n Roll Bride asked us if she could use one of our shots from Liz & Pete’s wedding.  She wanted it for her upcoming article in WEDDING magazine over in the UK.  Well, the time is here–it’s officially on newsstands!  I wish so much it could be on our newsstands!  We have wanted to be in magazines (as any photographer would) since we started up, but that really takes a lot of work/time on your part–time that we can never seem to find.  We have actually even have personal emails from Chicago Bride and The Knot to send over a 100 or so images from each of our latest weddings so they can feature us, but we never had the time to do it.  I know how stupid that is.  I cringe just typing it.

That said, this is great!  Kat just emailed us one day, asking for a specific photo.  I sent it over and POOF–we are printed in a magazine!  Someday I really want to take the time to submit our stuff to all of our favorite wedding reads…. someday!

Until then, this will work out just fine.  We really love Kat!!  She is so amazing at what she does, and even though her inbox overflows with messages, she always responds to anything I send within 5 minutes.  It’s incredible!  We really appreciate you letting us be a part of your article, Kat!!

Wouldn’t it be great to kick off a new wedding blog with details on the Royal Wedding?  Yeah, I think so, too.  Too bad mine isn’t ready yet.  Almost.  Not quite.

So, I dvr’d the 6 hour event.  I woke up, got the kids off to school, sat down with a cup of coffee and skimmed through the recording.

Here are my thoughts, in case anyone wants to hear.

First off–this is great.

Her dress?  I loved it.  I would wear it in a heartbeat, especially if I looked as good as she does.  What a waist on that girl.  Wow.  I loved everything about her dress and her veil.

Her hair?  I loved that she chose to wear it down and keep it simple.  She really, truly could not have looked better in my opinion.

I, personally, really liked that the little girls and maid of honor were all in white, too.  It looked very elegant and modern.

Their getaway car was very cool. You can see a video here.

The little frowning girl while they were up on the balcony to share their first kiss was adorable.

The hats were crazy.  Imagine having to deal with sitting behind these crazy things!

William telling Kate she looked beautiful at the alter was probably close to every woman’s wedding day fantasy.  How romantical.

I also loved watching her dad walk her down the aisle.

I’d love to have seen a slight stumble or full on toppling over from these two.  Did anyone else hear that William’s Aunt–the Fergie lady–wasn’t even invited… so why in earth were these two?

I’ve always thought they were a good looking pair, but that’s not something I really care so much about.  But, gosh, she was breathtaking.  So many times throughout the wedding, I was just like “wow.”  I loved “Wills”  (barf.) in red.  They looked so lovely together.

I heard this wedding cost a modest 40 million.  It’s so insane to me when you look at the ceremony decor… just a bunch of trees, and her simple bouquet.  Obviously royal weddings have a lot more to deal with when it comes to expenses — security and such.  I also heard the flowers alone were $300,000.  Wowza.  It was a beautiful wedding, and they do seem truly happy (but, seriously, what do I or anybody else know about that?)  It’s a huge event to get excited and get happy about, which I think is a great thing for the world right now.  I know there are a lot of comments regarding all of the awfulness going on in the world at this time, and here they spend $40 million on one wedding… it seems hard to justify.  I agree very much so in a sense, but anything that brightens the world and gives people that childhood fairytale feeling of happiness is a good thing in my book.

I’ve got to say, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.  One of my favorite parts was watching Kate’s parents up on the palace balconyalongside the queen waving to the insane amount of people.  Really–can you even imagine?  Their daughter is going to be queen.  Craziness.

I was talking with Eric last night saying how much I would love to have a king and queen as opposed to a president. Anyone with me on that?

The biggest thing this wedding did for me was pump up my mood for our upcoming weddings.  I’ve get “commoner” wedding fever!  Can’t wait!

You didn’t think we were going to go without a single mention of this crazy royal wedding spectacle that has been all over every form of media possible now did you?

We had to at least say something.

First off, the amounts of money spent on a wedding like this when times are rough for everyone just saddens me, but that is beside the point.

I completely ignored this whole wedding deal for almost the entire period of time between the proposal and the upcoming wedding… until about last week.  I decided to record some of the hundreds of “William & Kate” and “A Royal Wedding” shows that are on nearly every channel.  Of course I became a little interested in the details of the wedding considering what we do for a living.  I think it’s quite hilarious that no details were announced, so all of these shows were made saying what they think would be good choices or who could be the florist, dress designer, etc.  Quite ridiculous.  But then again, I watched a few, so I suppose I’m being hypocritical.   If anyone else watched those shows, does you happen to agree that all of those wedding dress choices were hideous!?  I was sitting there like “what on earth are they thinking?”  Anyway…

I will say that am looking forward to see what she wears, as is everyone else.  They have gone on and on about how she is changing things up and keeping it more modern and youthful, so I’m very interested to see how everything will play out.

If you’re interested and have plenty of time on your hands, they just release the royal program… only 29 pages.  Yes, 29 pages.  The cake decorator was also announced today.  You can also go here to take a look at the florists in action.  They have posted virtual tours of Buckingham Palace here, which I did find kind of neat.  I would love to go there.  Everytime I’m watching an interview about the wedding, I’m busy focused on the people, palace and what life looks like in the background–simply wonderful.

One of my favorite wedding lines, BHLDN, has a place where you can create a moodboard inspired by the royal wedding with their gowns & accessories.  Once again, if you have some extra time on your hands…

So I guess my thoughts are, it’s just one of those things I will have to watch but hate at the same time.  Maybe a guilty pleasure?  What can I say?  I guess I’m just addicted to all things wedding.  Royal or regular.  Although I much prefer regular.

Anyone have any thoughts?  Are you going to watch?  What are you most interested in seeing?
