Susan Johnson - Glad the Expo went well. We went there on a whim and found DJ Jeff there (glad we went)!! If you had been there last year, I wouldn't have had to spend so much time researching online in order to find you guys! It would have saved a lot of time :)

fab weddings | colored crinoline

Forget the fact that I said I wouldn’t be around to post this weekend.  Here I am.  Skip “Fab Wedding Friday”??–seriously…  it’s the post I was most excited for.

Kristy - Oooooh...I like it.

ae wedding post

This may be a four-in-one; Thurs. Fri. Sat. Sun. post.  This weekend is extremely busy for us, and I will not be around to post.  Because of that, I’m mixing our “ae weddings” post with our “thoughtful post” and try to make it a  little extra special until I’m back around on Monday.
First off, this...

ae photography - Amber--I don't even count you... you were a perfect bride and have been perfect even after the wedding day :) You were definitely one of the most willing, most easy to work with couples who really understood our style. : ) Sorry you ripped your dress! Hope the photos were worth it!

Amber Zrust - Most willing bride - i dunno... I did rip my dress climbing onto that old swing, haha

Darcy Johnson - Ashley & Eric, Love the photos of Brittany & Brock, can't wait to see the rest of them! You did a beautiful job! Thank you so much! Darcy Johnson

Susan Johnson - to add to your list of limos...don't forget the F-150 15-Passenger Extended Cab Limo :) I think that was my favorite :)

tip tuesday | portraits

What do you think of when you hear the word portrait?  I’m guessing something like this:
Well, while our job requires us to do some those, that is not what comes to our minds when the word “portrait” is said.  We are all about showing the truth of the moment and creating an honest image.  Lining...

ae photography - haha, Amber--I completely agree. As you can see, this post only had two events, Christmas and a wedding that was on our desktop at the moment. I have so many no face shots that if I actually tried to think about my favorites, go sort and find them--this post would have never happened. I just had to be quick and work with what I had. But now that you mention those, it makes me said I didn't include them! You guys will be part of a post that's coming up soon!!

Jessica Sena - ha! nevermind. when i scrolled over it said her name. hehe

Jessica Sena - is that Hanna? if it is she has really popped! :)

Amber Zrust - ok how could you get through the no face section without ours!! the tattoos.... the chucks... the flowers & bright colors! *dies* coolest faceless photo ever... OH and i LOVE the one of pregnant mama with the kids behind... BEAUTIFUL!

Kristy - HAHAHA....awkward family photos. Priceless- thanks for sharing. Absolutely love your portraits, though...especially the kids.

inspiration post | miss avacado’s etsy cake toppers

When I planned on doing these “inspiration posts”, I immediately thought of all the amazing stuff I’ve been inspired by on Etsy.  I stumbled upon these toppers quite awhile ago while searching for unique things to have in the shop part of our studio. I thought they were quite adorable, and definitely not your typical...

emma | senior session | dekalb, illinois

To start off our weekly “session posts”, I have selected the lovely Emma.  Like I said back in her teaser, she is a young photographer–obviously graduating from high school this year.  She is very talented–so talented, in fact, that we might have her help us out occasionally : )  Sometimes we need a third shooter...

Leslie Russell - Beautiful shots...I love the ones of her standing by the trees...but she is a gorgeous girl! Don't think she could take a bad picture!

Barbara Cowan Kolb - It's tough to be objective, because I'm Emma's mom. You have some great work here. I am partial to 24 and 30... because to me, those are Emma. Thanks!!!

Jessica Sena - the one in the green doorway where she is touching the frame and the two where she is sitting and they are from the waist up and you see her black ring. (black dress, purple belt) i just keep looking at them. she should model. she is so natural. she needs to come to your budiour session.

Jessica Sena - oh my gracious. they are all sooo good. she is just plain gorgeous. i like the one in the door way, the last b/w glitter one, the purple bench. they are all so good though, to pick a favortie is hard. you guys are so good, its ridiculous. i love your style.

Amber Zrust - You guys always amaze me... you know im like your biggest fan... but no joke I think these are the best I have ever seen you post... every one of them... im so jealous - i wish I could retake my senior photos :(

Emma - ahhhhhhh ILOVEILOVEILOVEILOVE. i can't pick a favorite. i think my favorite is one you didn't post actually. i'm in a white shirt looking out of the frame, when we were in the trees. and from the above i can't pick. it's so strange to see photos of myself, and saying a lot that i don't mind. thanks again guys :)

Danielle Emerson - I really like the one where she is in the dress standing in the door way. That one really stands out to me.

Kristy - Only because you demanded a favorite can I begin to narrow it down. Otherwise, I would have to say "all of the above." I think my favorite is the panned out one with the line of trees [maybe only for the beautiful shot of the trees]. My second favorite is the purple bench one. Another favorite is the second balloon shot. I also like the glitter ones, though I don't think I'd like it if it were only the concept of a glitter-blowing photograph. Honestly, I could fight for all of them...she's super cute.

Craig - These Photos are amazing, she is beautiful and looks like she did not even know the camera was there. My favorite is the one where she is blowing the blue glitter off her hands, very artistic, I love it!

Jody - I like the 6th one. Something about the golden hour, I guess. I hope Tom and I have some like that our engagement session. (If we ever have one...I procrastinate...) The photos are all great though.

Sarah - wow. she is gorgeous! i absolutely love these!! I have to agree with you and say the first is my favorite. it is so natural. my next favorite is the first one when she is sitting by the gumball machines. great job!!

Brook - wow. amazing shots!

nikki - oh... and I NEED to know where that dress with the purple belt is from. immediately.

nikki - Are you kidding me? What a difficult request - I simply cannot pick just one but here is the list: - this first one, obviously. - the first blowing one (after the mustaches). - the sitting on top of the washing machines one. - and the light in the 6th picture is GORGEOUS. ... phew. I love it.

Jordan Leckey - Love the first one too. Also really love the one where she is sitting on the washers. These are absolutely beautiful!
